Having been running with the new Kenlow fan for a bit with no problems so far, a thought just crossed my mind (it does happen occasionally!).
Seeing all the people that fit bonnet scoops to help with engine cooling, if the bash plate was removed wouldn't this direct more cool air at the sump and help cool the oil and thus help to keep engine temperatures down?
Apart from offroading and with most trucks having some kind of body or suspension lifts, I can't really see the point of having them there.
Because of the angle they are fitted at they seem to act as a deflector so the air passes straight under the engine and away and the cooling effect is lost.
Any thoughts on this?
Ken
