starter motor problem

hi all, every now and again when i try to start my 4runner the starter motor will click once and thats it, it may do this several times consecutive then it starts perfectly.
this problem might not happen for a week but every now and again it happens, any advice as to how to go about fixing it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

hah, the old starter contacts/plunger possibly gone....quite easy job (trickiest is removing the starter motor from the engine bay)
