  • Spring change.

I am taking a set of L/C springs off the back of my 2.4 and putting them on my 3 litre.

I have disconnected the rear brakeline, removed both shocks, removed the panhard rod and i cut the handbrake cable guides off when i fitted the springs to the 2.4.

So the question is, will i still need to use the spring compressors, or should the rear axle/diff drop low enough to remove the springs as there is nothing holding it up?
    Many thanks in advance!!!

No compressors required, i put a set of +60mm springs in this weekend, just dropped shocks undid arb stabilisers and stood on the hub. In went the springs, job done.

You obviously haven't tried compressing a tjm spring, i ended up with a nut in the chin.

Tried doing this and it didnt quite work, i still had to compress the L/C springs about 2 inches before i could get them out. Least i know for next time.

You sure you undid the right nuts and bolts, the rear axle should drop more than enough to get +2" springs in, anyway now it's done chuck the compressors, i hate them!!!!

Yeah, the wheel was off the floor, just the rear axle control arms wouldnt go down anymore.
L/C spring r supposed to be plus 3 dont forget. Which is 15mm more than urs. And, yeah, i agree, spring compressors r killers, specially when u only got 1 pair.
But oh well, done now, got them off after work last night, in the dark, with a mini maglite.
