    found this interesting, http://www.coolingcomponents.co.uk/O...RCHNG_2004.pdf

can anyone confirm the part no for a toyota stat on a 2.4?

If it's 90916-03072 by a process of cross referencing and searching it seems that this stat was used by VW, Arrow, Chrysler, Daihatsu, Colt, Ford etc etc etc...

but what i found more interesting was the motorad part # 240-88 , if you look at all their part #s the suffix seems to be in the 75-96 range, incedentally the surf one has a suffix of 88 which i believe happens to be the temperature it opens at, so if there were to be one with a part# instead of 240-88 it had a lower suffix, say 240-82 would it be fair to say that the chances are it's gonna fit but open earlier?

I don't wanna get into the pro's and cons of a stat that opens earlier...
...yet? Just thinking out loud feel free to do the same.

    if........
asmany have done and disconnected the egr valve, what effct would this have on overall engine temp.the thermo used must be done so with regards to the engine as a whole,so for instance engine mods of a serious nature require ,generally, more cooling.maybe......

this is a good thing, but will the engine temp struggle to be attained
    or
will the act of opening the thermo earlier allow overheating to happen on a hot day,by not restricting the flow through the rad and not allowing it to be cooled sufficently?
    Non intercooled nothing.

90916-03072 now supersedes to 90916-03099. A 240-82 will probably fit and as you say, will open earlier. I use an aftermarket Tridon which is a TT322 -180. The 180 being farenheit which converts to just over 82 degC. I also believe there may be a Toyota 82 degC thermostat but will have to do a search.. I think a number of Aussie owners have changed to either the Tridon or one of a number of brands of 82degC thermostats.

A couple of threads where thermostats are discussed. Both the 2.4 and 3Ltr.

Changing the topic to "thermostats" will help with future searches.

so continuing in a similar vain i've now cross referenced 240-82 and 240-77 back to original toyota part #s

          giving a 77 degree stat pn# 90916-03025 originally fitted to a 3K engined 1200cc LiteAce production date 7105-7203

or 82 degree stat pn# 17570-74001 or 90916-03002 or 90916-03054 or 90916-03056 or 90916-03057 or 90916-03083 and more, the only ones that appear to show up at all on the EPC version i've got though are 90916-03054 and 90916-03083 and where the first shows up, the 2nd is given as a substitute, and they appear to have been used across a whole range of vehicles.

Whether it only seems to be these 2 part no.s show up on the EPC because they have superceded previous part number or if there's been an erooor or discontinued parts i don't know. I've only got the information i'm sharing so if anyone can deduce anything else from it feel free.

You can cross reference back to other applications rather than just manufacturers part #s by searching this PDF http://www.coolingcomponents.co.uk/Thermostat_2004_.pdf
