Chassis' - Pickup vs Surf

Hi people,

I now own my 2nd Surf, a '92 2.4TD. I deeply regret selling my 3 door

I would like to know if the chassis from pre '90 pickups (front axle type) are able to take a Surf body and are they the same wheelbase?

I'm googling like crazy but can't find much info. I've seen some crazy Americans removing the independant and fitting front axles to Surfs but no info on body swaps.

I am sure they will not fit without alot of modding . The nearest body to fit will be the classic 1st Gen as does share alot of same components from doors forward.

Wheel bases are different, its far easier fitting a pickup front axle to a Surf than trying to swap bodys.

(UK pickups were solid axle up to 97' BTW)

my ex. 87` surf had the same wheelbase as uk standard length pick-up of similar year. It would need to be a 1st. gen body.
