i could give you a price but it would propably cost more than your surf is worth. try a local engineering company.there should be loads to choose from up north.ohh and you will need to turn down the output shaft from the zf also to mate with the toy transfer case.

Unfortunatly i am one of these freakoids not a skinflint that would preffer to do the conversion work myself Ok my mate who is ALL EVERYTHING V8 is an exception to the rule ie i know for a fact he knows what he is doing plus i can belt him if he does make a balls up But basically i want to balls it up myself if any balls are to ballsed up if that makes sense so machine shops etc are a LAST resort to me if it ain't in me garage or make-able by myself forget it
      Cheers,
      Chas.

right ok what you need to do is get an ally plate about 8mm thick that will be big enough to go onto the toy transfer case stud pattern.(input side.)mark out the position of the holes including the output shaft hole, drill these out and mount the plate to the trans case.make sure you have a good fit.next get an engineering company to make you a sleeve that will fit onto the zf output shaft and also onto the toy transfer case input shaft.weld the sleeve on to the gbox output shaft making sure it is on straight,if you dont get it straight then you will knacker a bearing.obviously dont weld the sleeve to the transfer case shaft.mount the transfer case with the plate on to the end of the zf g/box again make sure everything is lined up and true.then get someone to tack weld the plate on to the end of the g/box shaft.(make sure you remove the output shaft oil seal first otherwise it will melt.)then remove the transfer case when you have enough tacks on there and then seam weld the plate to the output casing of the g/box.then fit a new seal on to the shaft(ally welding is a right pig of a job so unless you know what you are doing get someone who knows what he is doing to weld it up.hope this helps

Nice one mate what your saying really is i need an old Transfer box to use as template and yes i agree ally is a ba**tard to welg so that will be a job for my mate i reckon Thanks again Surfenstien i really appreciate your help advice but is there anything else in need to worry about with this conversion all i can think of at mo is sorting e.mounts/exhaust/w.pump/alt brkt/rad? The ZF box will have it's own fluid cooler NOT a stupid rad intergrated thingy so no worries there will be doing away with a/c as it's buggered anyway and engine will have a leccy fan. Then comes the fun bit the twin BIG bore exhausts that is my mates profession so i am well away there if you have anymore advice on what e.brkts etc i need to use or is it easier to fabricate my own from scratch any diagrams or pics very much appreciated as always
            Cheers,

yep something does crop to mind.when you fit the engine get it as far back in the tranny tunnel as you can get it.this will give you more room to fit a bigger rad.also a 2" body lift will be a god send to do before you fit the engine, this gives you so much more room under the bonnet and around the gear box and manifolds, also i used 3.9 ltr ambulance exhaust manifolds and fitted them back to front so that the exhaust came over the front axle and then went back from there, there is a bit of a clearance issue with exhaust manifolds.unless of course you have block hugger ones.
