  • SCOOP or INTERCOOLER???

    Hi guys,
after getting my surf back on the road, me thinking about the long term of things. l had a 2.4 & the head went on that, same happened on me 3.0ltr. l'm thinking of a scoop in the bonnet or a intercooler or maybe both.?
l notice on other 4x4's they have scoops, & the the new hilux vigo are fitted with them & l think l have them fitted on 3rd gen 97 plates.
Just wondering if anyone out there has done anything like it?

    Murph.

If you are just fiiting a scoop for cooling purposes have it facing the windscreen to allow the warm air to escape. Front facing wont have any benefit unless you have an intercooler. A front facing scoop on its own will not allow the hot air circulating around the engine to escape.

Yep, since l posted the??? l've read up on it. Seems a few things to consider, but l get the gist of it.
l plan on doing a bit of towing with it & l think trying to keep the engine a bit cooler can only be a good thing. Only if l go ahead with it l want to get it right..............., thanks for the fast responses tho.,

              Hi Boyo,
tried to pm you, looks like l'm not enabled for pm's. lf you could email me what you have to themurphit@yahoo.co.uk l'd much appreciate it.
Your photo looks good. You have a 2.4., would the same system suffice for a 3.0ltr.
              Thanks for your help.
