  • Speedo intermittent problem

Having a problem with the speedometer on my 91J Surf SSR-X. When travelling at speeds below 30 its wondering + or - 10kmh, then when going over 40 it just does not register at all and odometer stops registering.
Has any body else had this kind of problem before?
Will the speedo on this model be electroic? iv'e order a manual but not arrived yet.
Is the problem likely to be the cable or the speedo head?
Is there any good Surf suppliers in the UK to contact for spares?

Suppose I could always buy a tracker.

    Cheers for any assistance.

If your speedo has a pin for the needle to rest on @0mph, then it's electronic and fubarred.
If there's no pin then it's cable driven and the cable is probably worn.

      Sencer or head/both

I'm now led to believe that the late 91's are electronic and it may be the sencer in the gearbox that needs a clean, but i'm not sure where exactly that is yet. Theres sencers all over the place.

      cheers
