  • New Caliper Time!

Just went to change pads and found a "welded" piston on the passenger side!

    It is totally stuck fast!

No amount of banging, squeezing, heating or swearing will move it!

I guess I am going to have to shell out for 2 new calipers!

This would probably explain the pull to the left when braking, dirty wheel and horrible occasional noises!

As it is safety related I suppose that buying 2 new calipers is the best option!

While at it I want to get some pipes as well, how many do I need?

As I will be ordering from Barry at Roughtrax there is a kit with 3 braided steel pipes!

    Is this all I need?

    Or, do I need more?

you will need more than those braided pipes
if you look at the brake pipes on your truck,
on the front, there are a set of rubber/plastic? brake pipes between chassis and wishbone, on each side
and a 3rd one between LSPV valve and back axle

you are more likely to need to replace the metal brake pipe between caliper and the rubber pipe on the fronts
the rubber pipe doesnt connect to the calliper, there is 10" of metal pipe instead

you can see the rubber pipe in attached photo
i recently replaced the metal piping before MOT,
you can just make out the section to calliper at base of photo

      Re

Have checked all my metal piping and it seems sound enough!

It has been liberally painted with Waxoyl for the last 3 years so I guess it will be ok, only the flexi pipes between the wishbone and metal pipes to the caliper seems a bit shabby!
