Slow refueling

Ever since I've owned my Surf it has been painfully slow to fuel up.
The fill nozzles always 'click off' in the petrol stations and I can fill it a bit quicker by withdrawing the nozzle a bit and going slower with the filling.

I'm guessing I might have a blocked breather of some kind on the fuel tank itself, or I could be totally wrong and I ask for your help to sort this out.

Has anyone else had this problem?

My brother uses the veg oil and I'm giving it a go next weekend.

Just make sure you are registered with HMRC or you could be in a VERY situation

I got no reply either ...

I asked the same Q about a month ago and go no sensible reply either.

I had TonyN service my surf a little later and discussed it with him. He took the protective skirting off the inside of the inside of the driver side, rear, wheel arch and found the breather tube, and found a joint in it between a hose and tube. He disconected the hose off the breather tube and blew compressed air up, and down the tube.

This made no difference (sorry Tony, thanks for trying all the same!)

Appararantly there is a filter somewhere, Tony thinks its on the top of the fuel tank - gotta maybe take it off to find it.

BTW, off topic here, but after that service my fuel consumption went down, but dramatically - was it that TonyN ACTUALLY greases everything properly, OR was it that dose of Redex my motor got? OR was it compressed air being blown into my fuel tank?? Kinda compressed air injection effect on my carb - maybe I'll never know....

When I can, I use the lorry fuel pumps at filling stations as they have a larger nozzle.

When I'm filling the diesel comes back up the fill neck of tank and makes the hand nozzle click off.

I might try and clean that breather hose.

There is a filter / non return valve on top of the tank. Mine was solid with mud before I binned it and put an extended breather pipe in.

I asked the same Q about a month ago and go no sensible reply either.

When it is a question with multiple possibly correct answers, being not given the one that actually sorts the problem does not mean the replies are not sensible. This can be caused by anything from the fuel pump at the garage you use, the angle that you insert the nozzle, the depth you insert some nozzles, the breather on the tank, and possibly other things too.

Well, I did a wee test, my brothers Surf filled easily at the same pump I used so I think I may have to investigate further.
