  • 3rd Gen track rod ends

    Hi

I tried to get my steering aligned last week and they advised there was too much movement in the nsf wheel for them to do so. They advised it was a worn track rod end. So an outer TRE was duly purchased from RoughTrax. Gave it to my mechanic to fit yesterday but they could not undo the existing one (even with applying heat). So on the phone again to RoughTrax to purchase the inner TRE.

On a 3rd Gen does the outer TRE screw straight into the inner one? I've been reading that there is an adjustment tube that can be purchased from Toyota. Went to Toyota today who said that the KZN185 does not need one.

    Advice would be appreciated.

3rd gen has rack and pinion so no adjustment tube or inner track rod end.

    Does this help?

I've just ordered an inner TRE for a KZN185 from RoughTrax so what is the purpose of this part? Otherwise what if the outer TRE is the only part that can be replaced what is the best way to get it off if its seized?

      Thx

If its this part, then that will sort you out.

Its part of the rack, not technically a inner trackrod end, and your TRE will screw into it.

Here's a diagram showing this. The part is 45503.
