i normally wait till i hear the click of the relay and then start the engine.I then put the radio ans belt on an heaters if needed then i drive off.

Hi Bud, I was always taught as a lad many moons ago to let a Turbo "warm"
(Lubricate & get up ta Working Temperature) TURBO, Not the Engine !!
It could be different nowadays tho ..... but I still give it 5 minutes anyway !!!
There's always a Payback .... You just never see it Comin !!!!

From cold, I always let mine tick-over on idle-up for a couple of minutes before driving off.
If the engine is already warm, just start and go.
ihave always been taught to let them idle up and down (before driving and after driving) for about 2-3 minutes each time to allow the turbo to get warm and oil to circulate and then to cool and come down to normal speed...

thats bull, start up and drive off straight away from cold ,so as to bring the oil pressure up quickly the distribute the oil around the system quicker.
more damage is done if left there to sit idle for a few minutes, well known fact that.
