it sounds like a silly question but as i am a newbie to the 3.0 diesel turbo,i would like to know how long i should warm the engine for before i drive off ,and the same for a warm engine any help would be great thanks

i normally wait till i hear the click of the relay and then start the engine.I then put the radio ans belt on an heaters if needed then i drive off.https://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/ -

(Lubricate & get up ta Working Temperature) TURBO, Not the Engine !!
It could be different nowadays tho ..... but I still give it 5 minutes anyway !!!

I dont think you do. You start it up and off you go, hit the road. Diesels like to work. They prefer it to ticking over on light/no load.

From cold, I always let mine tick-over on idle-up for a couple of minutes before driving off.
If the engine is already warm, just start and go.Comment

ihave always been taught to let them idle up and down (before driving and after driving) for about 2-3 minutes each time to allow the turbo to get warm and oil to circulate and then to cool and come down to normal speed...
