Instructions for producing Bleed Valve.
Materials: = Bleed valve 2 copy
All Copper pipe and fittings are 15mm dia. The fittings are all self soldering with the exception of fitting 9.
1-5 are 15mm dia x30mm long.
6-7 are 15mm dia straight couplings.
8 is a 15mm dia T connector.
9 is a 15mm dia pipe bleed valve.
Pic 2 = Bleed valve 3
Assembly instructions:
Clean with wire wool, pipes 1-5
Clean with wire wool, the inside of all other fittings. (6,7,8 & 9 )
Coat pipes 1-5 with pluming flux.
Push all of the pipe and fittings together with the exception of fitting 9.
Sweat these together with a blow tourch.
When cool clean up the top pipe ready to push on the bleed valve.
Remove the screw off the top of the bleed valve, as it will get hot and burn the rubber washer in side.
Coat the inside of fitting 9 with flux.
Push fitting 9 onto the remaining pipe and solder using plumbers solder (on a roll type )
Cut the fittings off where shown in pic 2.
Finally clean up all the valve assembly with wire wool.
Q. why put pipe 1 & 4 in at all.
A. Because the solder in the straight conector would drop out and make a mess of the assembly.
Q. Why put the straight connectors in at all.
A. Because you need two ridges that the T piece and the straight coupling produce. These bring the assembly diameters to a tight fit in the heater hose. The securing clip also fits neatly bettween them when securing the rubber hose.
Q. Where do I fit the assembly.
A. Cut the flow hose to the heater matrix in front of the bulk head. Because of the flexibility of the hose it allows you to lift the valve above the bonnet line if necessary. (Shown in final pic). = Position.
This Valve assembly I produced for my own Surf and do not take responsibility for any damage to vehicle or personal injury to third parties.
