  • Brake compensation valve

just had 2 new tyres on the back and while it was in the air with the wheels off I snuck a look at the compensation valve linkage. The connecting rod between the axle and the valve seems to have been bent to accomodate the exhaust pipe. I know the exhaust isnt a stock unit (stainless steel with a massive rear pipe) but i dont know if this pipe is routed differently and the rod has been bent by whoever put it on, or if the rod is supposed to be this shape. I bought a haynes manual from milners while I was picking up the fuel pump seals but theres no photos of the valve assembly, only line drawings. Can anyone tell me what shape this rod is on their surf, or what shape it should be? The linkage seems to move freely enough on the pivots but Ive always thought the brakes were a bit lacking with a strong front end bias and if this linkage is not right then it could explain it.

Thats about the shape of mine too, except the axle mounted end is much closer to the exhaust and looks like it may be making contact with it.
