  • Locking wheel nuts

I could do with a set of locking wheel nuts to secure my nice shiny alloys and new tyres from some lowlife scum opportunist.

Can anyone suggest a good set to fit a 94 3.0TD? I've seen a set in the local 'Motor World' store for £20 but how can you be sure if they fit (ie thread, length etc)? I don't even know if I need bolt style ones or just nuts yet.

    Cheers.

Best thing to do is ask if you can try them
It's a while since I've had the wheels of mine but I think you will need bolt style ones
    NO WORRIES!

          Nuts

I got mine put on when they changed the tyres. I remember it taking them a while to find ones that fitted. There were boxes everywhere ! I would check before you buy !

                wheel locking nuts

I drive a 94 2nd gen 3.0td and bought mine straight off the shelf
at halfords £18.00 and someones had a go at the wheels once
                and couldn't shift them

                best £18.00 i ever spent

Well now you've gone and got me stumped. Apparantly you lot have locking bolts, but I've just take one off a rear wheel to see and its a nut, sealed on the outer edge and using washers to pad it out.

                    locking wheel nuts

                    dforbe,

you definitely require NUTS and not bolts

get them from halfords they sell them for the 4runner and they will fit
£ 18.00 for the set of four.

you'll need to get the ones for alloy wheels as the steel wheel nuts are different.

just take one off and take it in with you to compare them, i'll have a look in a mo and get the size if you like.

....Just a couple of things to be aware of with locking wheel nuts.

Firstly if your car has standard Toyota six stud wheels they are held on with NUTS.

Surfs, 4Runners & Land Cruisers up to '98 all use one the same thread: M12 x 1.5° pitch but the depth of thread and the type of seat vaies. Most are 60° taper seats but there is also a sleeve and washer type that is common on UK 4Runners and baby Land Cruisers.

Secondly if you have the original type of 4 spoke Toyota alloys you need to buy very slim locking nuts because the centre caps will not fit after you instal the locking nuts if they are too large a diameter.
