Toying with the idea of machining up a set of spring spacers and sneaking them on while the missus aint looking. I've checked out the available kits and they seem to come with uprated torsion bars and extended shocks. Dont really want to lose the shocks if I can help it as I find the adjustable setting usefull. I can machine some upper or lower shock body extensions to compensate, but will there be enough travel on the shocks to deal with a 2"lift? I know Check straps are an option to avoid ripping them apart with exaggerated axle articulation, but what about compression? Also, how important is an uprated torsion bar?

hi.i put the 2" lift from roughtrax on my old 2.4 and to tell the truth it was a waste of time putting the torsion bars on for a 2" lift as i found the a sod to fit but never noticed any differance.why not just get some spring spacers and keep the original shocks.you wont get much drop on the shocks if your going to off road at all but just for road use it will be ok.Jotto does the spring spacers i think for about £85 + p&p.Hope this is of some helpOriginally posted by Billy-No-MoneyToying with the idea of machining up a set of spring spacers and sneaking them on while the missus aint looking. Thanks Richard, yes its a great help. I may still machine the spacers myself, and if the standard shocks have enought travel to deal with the lift then the less work, the better! Ive seen that some of you fit landcruiser rear springs and say that it give about 3" lift at the back. Could that be coupled to fitting spacers on the front only?My karma ran over my dogma ..

for whatever the chassis sits on that forms the front suspension. To be honest Ive never looked under there (too preoccupied with the head) but I always presumed that there was suspension of some kind that could be raised/lowered by the addition/subtraction of components. Am I showing my ignorance?Originally posted by MattFSpacers on the front for what?My karma ran over my dogma ..

the front suspension is done on torsion bars which you will need to crank up.i have a total of just over 5" lift on the rear and thats with L/c springs and 2" bodylift aswell the front it is about 4" as i have cranked the torsion bars 2" but i would like to get some ball joint spacers for the front aswell (so if anyone knows someone that can make them at a good price)Originally posted by Billy-No-MoneyThanks Richard, yes its a great help. Torsion bars control the height at the front. The only time spacers are generally used on the front are for the ball joints. They are used merely to stop the C.V's being pushed to their limit.Originally posted by Billy-No-Moneyfor whatever the chassis sits on that forms the front suspension. this is what it will look like with L/C springs and the front cranked up with a 2" bodylift alsoLast edited by stormforce; 25 April 2007, 17:04.https://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

yea i got 2" on mine on the standard torsion bars but anymore than that and i would go for the uprated ones.Originally posted by Billy-No-MoneyYeah, look a twit now. Just found the link on how its done when I had the brainwave th do a forum search on 'torsion bars.' Wondered why i got no results from 'front springs'. Sorry for being so thick! Can you get 2" on the torsion bar?
here's a pic without the steps onLast edited by stormforce; 25 April 2007, 17:03.https://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

front only, or front and back? Do these come with commercially available susp. lift kits, or seperately? Or is it something you have to run off yourself?Originally posted by andrewlee31yes but you will need to fit diff drop spacers to go that far or you will munch the cv's. mines up 1.5 in on the frontMy karma ran over my dogma ..
