3.0td into 2.4td

Hi
i have a 91 2nd gen 2.4 ssrx td with a blown motor. I was wondering if a 3.0td lump would drop straight in. I have a very competant mechanic who will do the job and was wondering if there are any major parts i would need to change in order to get the lump in and runningIf it is feasible, what is the best year engine to get?

Any help would be appreciated.

its a nightmare apparently - you need a complete rewire more or less.
