cv joint i think

ok, while off roading at the weekend i started to notice a loud grind every so offten when on full lock. thought it had to be the cv joint.

on the way home and ever since, (2wd) there is no grinding or ticking noise at all.

i thought that even in 2wd the cv's were turning, so why has the noise went away. is it just because they are not under as much stress.

o; and another thing, why do millners and roughtrax only list a outer cv joint?

whats inside the inner cv boot?

It'll be your steering stops making that noise, and need a blob of grease on them. When CV joints are on the way out they make a metallic clicking noise.

cheers vince, i never even gave the steering stops a thought.

but you just described it better than me it was like a metallic clicking noise.

i'll try it tomorrow again in 4wd and see what happens.
