I can't say 100% that it's the right one but that's what I've always understood.

Not at all would be good for me

I'm just glad someone off the forum bought it. I was watching it and considered buying it myself (and sticking it up for sale here) when I didn't recognise the bidders. Good job I didn't - there could have been an unfortunate bidding war there.

I just hope I'm right about it being the 'modified' 2.4. Still, 62 quid for a head is a bit of a scoop anyway.

A problem with cooling system must have contributed to cracking original head and the cheap ebay one - surely ?
so will a new head fix that?
have you checked cooling fans, radiator, rad cap & thermostat ?

FACT! The original heads waterways are very close to the Valve Seats.
FACT The new Modified heads are thicker giving more metal Near the valve seats.

It's not technically a modified head. It's merely a modification for the 2.4,
due to it being the (3L) head from a 2.8.

hi andy i bought it with the head off, rebuilt it with the ebay head and found that the thermostat was jammed shut, replaced it and all was fine for 2 weeks then bang, still the 2.8 head is on and all is good fingers crossed, thanks again sancho.

Still though, HAVE you replaced or checked everything else related to the
cooling system? An uprated head won't make a jot of difference if you haven't
checked and serviced your cooling system. The new head will be far more
                        resilient. It isn't, however, indestructible.
