  • Help I broke it again !

We all know Surfs whistle.... whell mine decided to turn itself in to Toyota's answer to Roger Whittaker !

Upon investigation, it seems that the air intake elbow pipe to the turbo has perished (heat I guess) and has cracked all around the bottom, leaving a lovely gooey mess down the front of the turbo.

So, like a good Surf owner I took the hose off (temporary repair in mind ) and the split bit has cooked itself onto the car

Luckily I have managed to get the leftovers to go back on (just) and all is well - sort of.

Does ANYNOE know where I can get this hose from ? Milners don't list it and I've pm'd Chris & Bob.... but I thought I'd better ask around just in case !

Just to be sure, here's a picture

    Thanks all.

Don't know anywhere off hand but have you tried a Toyota dealer they may be able to help.

As that is the low temp and pressure side of the turbo it's not too bad but it is a large diameter so heater hose won't fit. I would try toyota dealer our a performance shop, or you could go for a k/n cone filter to fit straight on to the turbo.

Bobs gonna help sort me out...THANKS BOB !!!!!! But until then I hope the slightly modified / shortened / mangled version holds out !

Not too confident about K&N cone filters with turbo'd motors... I tried one on a petrol turbo car a while back.... all was great until the underbonnet temp got up. Then the car got slugish and unresponsive and more thirsty. Turbo's - I'm told - like nice cold air..... not like the oven like temperatures under the bonnet of a Surf

            Tata !

for cold air induction you need a bit of pipe (supplied with 57i induction kit) runs from grill to filter sucking up the nice cold air! and blowing it inside

or jack frost and a trumpet

that's ok, they're washable... clean off mud, re-oil and pop it back on!
much easier than if you were to get the old paper one muddy or wet!

                    maybe of use

I owned a saab turbo once and a similar problem arose as usual dealer
no help, and a friend suggested a marine diesel shop.

got one off the shelf made from kevlar and silicone chemical resistant
and heat resistant to 800 c a bit expensive but built to last.
