HELP!! Loose bolts!

    HELP!! Loose bolts!

    Was just hosing off my beast (ooer missus) after a muddy weekend in Devon and I thought I'd get rid of the Norfolk sludge from uder the bonnet while I was there.

    When I popped the bonnet, with the engine running, I noticed a couple of bolts that looked like they'd worked themselves loose - one was completely loose and only being held in by its proximity to a hose!

    Firstly, what are they, and secondly why have they come loose?!

    I tried to finger tighten the rear one (uppermost in the picture) but couldn't even find the thread. The one to the front (bottom in the picture) is tight but looks like it's only halfway in... thoughts anyone?

      tighten them up quick they're holding the ac pump on

        look tricky to get at too!

        the aircon compressor still has that bold holding the top, so in my book if nothing's fallen off, don't worry too much!! hehehe!!

          Well, nothing's loose as far as I can tell - apart from the bolts of course!

          They're not too tricky to get at, but as I say, I couldn't even get the rear one to locate never mind tighten it.

            you will have to loosen the other bolts and slacken ac belt before you can screw them in

                Urrr didn't even know the timing belt had been changed - it certainly hasn't been done in the last 6 months that I've had it!

                The bolts have probably been that way since I got it and I just haven't noticed - I'm not the most technically minded of blokes!

                Which are "the other bolts" that you reckon I need to loosen to get these loose ones to relocate?

                  see what i mean!... 6 months with no worry, now you're worried about it!
                  that'll learn you not to go cleaning it!

                    the bolts that hold the ac pump to the bracket behind it, have a close look you will see them

                      OK, cool...thanks for the advice dudes! I'm not gonna get a chance to look at it in the light until next weekend now, so it'll have to wait.

                      Yeah, like you say, that'll teach me to bother cleaning under the bonnet! Just driven 3000km in the last 9 days so it can't be too serious!
