  • $$$$$$ Oil Filter - Warning

I serviced the Surf last weekend. Everything went smoothly until I started the engine. There was no oil pressure. A look under the front of the truck revealed a big puddle of oil.
I had noticed that the new oil filter didn't need as many turns before it was tight. I unscrewed it and had several goes before resorting to putting the old one back on. I spoke to my brother about it and he said, "I bet the inner rubber seal and part of the old filter is still on the car."
He was right. I managed to get it off with a pair of long nosed pliers and the new filter went on OK. I wasted about 5L of oil though.
    It's only a hobby!

Did the same thing years ago on a Mk2 Cortina. Once you've done it you always check
