  • 2nd Gen 2.4 Exhaust

My exhaust split on the bend where it goes over the back axle. The rest of it is solid and there is no sign of lose baffles in the front box. I had a new transit diesel exhaust, which someone had dumped round the garages, stashed in case I needed it. One of the bends on the tranny exhaust matches the bend that has split on the Surf.

I have cut the rusty bend out but it is the same dia as the surf one. I had another exhaust off cut which was slightly bigger but not large enough to slide over to make an overlap joint. With a bit of heat from the blow torch and the BFH, I have managed to sweat it on. All I need now is for it to stop raining so I can weld it up.

I havent welded it yet. It's back on the car ready to be tacked tomorrow, so I can take it off again and weld it properly.
It seems that bend is a moisture trap. I have gone a bit further than just fixing it. The exhaust will now exit out of the rear bumper quarter just behind the mud flap, minus the little back box. I'll post some pics when it is finished.
