So there I was, chugging away reading lots of posts about this EGR valve and how turning it off helps improve MPG, and I thought "I'll have some of that". Armed with a pair of pliers and a cable tie I pop the bonnet and find..... its already done. Guess I won't be getting any increase in MPG after all.
Anyway, to my question. I've read some different opinions on how this can and cant affect the way your engine runs, but can anyone tell me if it can affect exhaust emissions? My mot isnt far off and I don't know whether its worth putting it back as it should be in case my emissions are up (if you're not burning off more of your emissions surely youre shoving out more nasty stuff), or whether we dont test for the gases that increase (I read that in one post). Could they fail it on the fact ive disconnected it?
Maybe there should be a sticky thread on this?
Over to you lot.....
