4x4 not working

tried it and it dont work ??? what does this mean then ??

Did you push the lever all the way forwards, and not into neutral? Did the green 4WD light come on the dash?

pushed lever all way forwards ,button in ,button out ,lever all way back everything drove it forwards and backwards while doing this also NOTHING no light either aaaggghhh . anyone got some petrol and a few matches lol
