  • Pulling to the left

Just replaced my front discs and pads as they were worn.
Now when i brake in a straight line the car pulls heavily to the left. I have to really hang on to the steering wheel to prevent me going off the road.
    What is wrong folks?

    Paul.

maybe the caliper is jammed, you need to hoik the wheels off and have another look in there.

Haven't got a clue, but exactly the same thing happens on my Mondeo. Garage have had it all week and they (nor Ford) can come up with any logical explanation, let alone fix it

Do you mean the caliper may not even be working Tony or that it is closing then jamming on?

If its pulling left when you brake then probably the right hand caliper piston is jammed or at least very stiff and youve got no, or very little braking on the right. It cant be an ABS problem with the Surf cos it aint got any but it could be with the Mondeo. Bit of water in the brake fluid, bit of rust on a shuttle valve and suddenly no brakes on one wheel. ( happened to me with a BMW where I was a bit remiss with the annual changing of my brake fluid)

If its pulling left under normal driving then left hand caliper piston could be seized and left brake is partly engaged causing wear tear and reduced mpg.
