Diesel storage and Truck Weight

Two Questions:

1) She's a thirsty girls and there no point lugging around a 5L can with a bit of diesel in it (not enought to start her with never mind get to a filling station), so I keep a 20L Jerry Can in the back all nice and secure.
The question is, how long can/should I keep it before using it and refillilng with fresh ?

2) Does anybody know how heavey a 2nd Gen 3.0 Auto is ?
