Torsion Bar Adjuster Set Up

When replacing the adjusting bolts on the Torsion Bars is it straight forward swop or is it liable to have bits and bobs fly all over the place?

I dont have a manual for the suspension and have been unable to find a breakdown of the setup for the adjusters. I have seen the article http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/torsion/ but that did not show the set up of the adjuster.

Just dont want any shocks when I replace them!

Havn't you done that yet, was expecting to see you on Monday, but assumed you'd done it!!

As long as the wheels are off the ground, there shouldn't be any dramas.

No sorry things changed on my trip to the BIG MAINLAND!! thats why I didnt ring you back. So this is why I thought I would try the Bolts first! if that fails i will be in touch and if that still dont work I shall be in touch.

Its Ok, there is a pic in the first reply, but our website seems to playing up!

can be a pig to unwind the old bolts if seized and rusted

I fitted new bolts the other week, prior to cranking up the bars

took a lot of wd40, a 22mm spanner on top - tied to chassis!
and a long breaker bar

i have heard stories of seized bars snapping and bolt shooting through underfloor of truck
- but one of them was when front wheels werent jacked off ground

i must admit to being able to confirm that adjusting the torsion bars with weight on wheels is a BAD idea and yes it does put a hole in the floor and the bang when they fail combined with the truck your lying under dropping towards you isn't that good for the nerves!
