  • Can this be repaired?

Righto, the other day whilst towing my new 4x4 toy home, I heard the exhaust making some strange noises, and yesterday it broke completely. My question is, can this be repaired (welded)?

I bought a new back box today, fitted it, but the tailpipe doesn't fit, it's right size, but a different angle. I think over in Japan, it had a custom backbox and tailpipe fitted!

Yep, I've welded pieces together like that loads of times and they've lasted at least two years.

I'm not an expert when it comes to welding..... in fact I'm not even a novice, but I was told that only a 'MIG' weld would be suitable. Does that make sense?

Yep, a mig welder is the one with a separate gas bottle and welding wire fed through the hose up to the handle.
Although you can get gasless mig welders, but I don't think they're very good.

Did you follow the good advise offered "elsewhere" you know where, to mark the angle where the pipe should be "tacked" in relation to the box...that was a good ie for sure. The times when guys used to come into my w/shop and expect me to know THEIR motors exact zorst "geometry".....best regards

Hmmm, no. But even though it was a clean break, there were some telltale signs of where it should've been put back together! Some guy asked if she was for sale........ I said no! Afterall, I've got my 'plaything' now! Oh, and no, the bloomin' steering is still non existant! I'm waiting to hear from Red Dragon restorations for a price, however, I've just joined the 'Elderly' club, so I should have some more contacts to go with!
