    it's an aftermarket thing...

turn it on, set the time, take out the keys and walk away!

    simple

    probably got 3 buttons
    on
    time +
    time -

it just keeps the engine running to cool it evenly at idle for a bit so yer bits and bobs don't start siezing up and cracking and stuff like that!
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

Mine's got one as well. It's got buttons for times from 30 secs up to 5 mins. The dealer who sold me the car said it was to let the turbo cool down gently by continuing to circulate oil after you remove the key. WARNING.......... he also said they they were 'strictly speaking' illegal to use in the UK, and you must turn it off for an MOT. I use it after a long run, but also make a habit of not switching the engine off too quickly after a short run.
Nice when clean, better when muddy

well technically it is an offence to leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running.
