Make sure the short lever is in 'H' or pulled back towards the centre console.

p.s. update your profile so we know what year Surf you have.

Yep, but if the lever is in the middle, thats neutral and no drive, 2wd or 4wd.
Now and again when I get into the drivers seat I may inadvertently knock the small lever into neutral with my knee, start engine put it into drive, and nothing happens.
So check that first, 'cos it's a cheap fix.

Is the air con cold ??? If it is then most likely thing is the belts either need re tensioning or replacing.

As for the switch is it for any spot lamps on the front of the surf if so most likely they have been wired wrong

            Mike

Yeh like Mike said, also the spots may have been removed before sale and the wire-ends might not have been insulated well enough and are shorting

And there I was reading down thru the first few posts just dying to say 'your rear driveshaft is missing' !!!!!

A fully charged aircon system also contains aspecific amount of lubricant. I suspect this may be down on your car IF the belts are tensioned correctly. You will need to get your system checked out for pressure, charge, and content(weight). IMHO
