over heating

Hi, Could anyone help with a over heating problem I have, I'm new to the 4 Runner and don't have a manual yet. My truck is over heating and I have steam comming from the rear of the engine block but cannot see where the steam is comming from. Does anyone know if there are any hidden pipes that could be dammanged or split that are difficut to see. And how to repair/replace if so.

Could be a heater matrix hose, or might be the head gasket...

Need a little more info dude, what year/motor is it? V6 or I4 petrols, or desiel 3.0 or 2.4?

Seeing as you said 4Runner I'd guess you have a 3.0 2nd Gen 4Runner. You need to get in there and have look for coolant marks when its cooled down, the heater pipes run on the bulkhead above the engine, down the left hand side by the turbo, the turbo has one water cooled bearing that it could be coming from. Thats about it, unless its blown a head gasket near the edge and its escaping between the block and head.
