Any problems fitting tubes in tyres?

When I was off roading at Toms Farm this weekend I popped one of the front tyres off the rim (it dropped into a rut - I was running lower pressures than normal for a bit more grip too).

I was thinking about getting some tubes fitted to the tyres to stop this sort of thing in future - is there any problems or anything I should be aware of if I do this? I am guessing you can't use the tyre inflating cans of sealing goo in an emergency with tubes? or can you?

Use LIGHTER FLUID like they do in ICELAND it works a treat. Not that i'd ever try it Too Dodgy for me

ok in theory but try it when the rim, tyre and inside of the tyre is covered with welsh mud! I would have had trouble getting a seal again using any method without proper cleaning. And I did'nt have the spare on the truck cos it gets in the way of my motorbike rack luckily had other vehicles there to send back to camp for it

There is still a risk of blowing the tube when this happens but its worth a try.

Don't think a tube would help - if the pressures are low enough to pop a bead all that's going to happen with a tube is that the tyre will displace the tube and probably rip the valve off. The only sure way to run low pressures is with beadlocks. Having said that I normally run around 18psi when off road and I regularly have to have my front tyres removed from the rims and cleaned out but have never pulled a tyre off (yet).

Aside from what the others have said putting tubes into tubless tyres has another drawback, in that the inside of the tyres are not designed to have tubes in and the inside walls of the tyres can be very abrasive, you may get away with this on the road but at lower presure off road your likely to get a lot of punctures.
