    Tax?

Let me get this right. i go to tesco, buy veg oil and go home and put it in my deep fat fryer and cook chips. Dont need to pay tax or any other stuff. But if i put it in my car i need to pay some Git who has probably never heard of where i live and extra tax. thats crap and we all know it.
whats the point i hear you all cry.
The point is YOU and I both KNOW its WRONG but NOBODY will do anything about it.
Remember the convoys to block the oil refinerys EVERYONE did it and the government were stuffed we could have demanded anything we wanted and got it as the country was almost at a standstill and what did the great British public do??? we stopped and watched them raise the price again. If we all got off our butts and did something bout what we want and didnt stop till we got it then the government would have no choice WOULD THEY!!!

I dont remember getting anything out of the fuel blockades...
At 85ppl currently i'm not convinced we did get anything..
All we did is show everyone we could happily bring our lives to a standstill by stopping fuel food etc..!
I'm no anti fuel demos, just realistically think its uneffective...

At least people stood up and made a fuss, better than just bending over like we normally do.

No one in authority listens if you nice and polite, make things uncomfortable and you get noticed.

I agree with that. And I know my post sounds a bit negative, its just it sometimes seems so futile trying to battle against the governments and big fuel companys...and currently being crippled at 85ppl looking back seems like we got nothing, but then whilst thinking about my last post and this one I realised its been over 4 years since then!!!!

if you remember, the fuel blockades stopped, but nothing actually happened!... i went to a protest in park lane a few years back, loads of trucks blocking off london.... again, no response, everyone went home and things returned to normal!...

at that time, i was running a merc sprinter (s reg, brand new) and was paying 61.9p per litre!... now it's nearly 30p a litre more!!

                  that's a 50% increase in 6 years!

fuel blockades may not have changed anything but i firmly believe that if people had kept going and did it with everything that we dont want then the gov should listen. we put them there (or some git did) so they should listen to us, fact is they dont so should we veg out and let them or get out of lazyboys and do something till it makes a diffenence.
ps the price of diesel up here in the highlands is sitting around 90.9 p/l

i pay 85.9 and i think thats way too high but 90.9! thats like a service station price, makes me sick and I will go on a blockade somepoint but whether anything gets done about it is another thing altogether!

i'll be honest, i haven't got a clue what fuel costs!... haven't bought any for 6 months... filled up quad, i know that costs £7 and lasts about a week and a half!...

apart from that, i wouldn't have a clue!

                            Oh dear...

...I didn't want to spark a political debate on the subject, but at the same time we're all affected by this.

Can Draig do anything to help - since he's involved with a 4x4 mag?

To get anywhere the issue needs to be put in front of the public. Also, there's probably a good deal of benefit in lobbying your local MP. Perhaps someone could put together a proforma document that we use to send to our local MP, i.e. a letter that states the case, and all we have to do is change the MPs name and our name, print it off, and then send it off. Something like that could work well both on the forum and in a 4x4 mag - don't you think!?

On a lighter note - I'm from Yorkshire - anyone managed to get a Surf to run on Beef Dripping yet??? (Definitely need a pre-heater on that eh!)
