I was again looking for movement in my steering components. I got my nephew to crank the steering from side to side while I rolled around underneath. The steering idler arm seems OK but the one on the drivers side (drop arm?) has about 10mm of back and forth movement. Spookily enough that is the side where I am suffering uneven tyre wear. While there I noticed the drivers side CV boot is weeping, the one size fits all that I put on as a temp fix last August is detached on the innner side.
I have been searching for the exploded view of the 2nd gen 4Runner steering components with the part numbers and cant seem to turn it up. Any pointers/links would be apppreciated.
I'm seriously considering changing all the bushings/bearings while I have to have it in bits, even if it means using public transport for a day or eight!
