Beefing A Rear Axle & Adding Disc Brakes

Rear discs are good, got all the stuff collected in the garage. No more drums full of mud.
But you'll never brake a rear shaft the way we wheel in this country, you need dual t/cases, lockers and big rocks to do it.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

Not only the advantage of having disc brakes, but a fully floating rear axle means servicing the rear bearings a doddle - pack and regrease or changing them is so much easier than replacing the standard type rear wheel bearings on a Semi floating axle - plus it's much stronger.

Yes its cool, and yes I'd like one, but its a bit over the top unless your competing in rockcrawling events, having to buy new axles makes it expensive, No one I know has ever broken an axle shaft, or bearing while offroading.
The best bit is if you run a locker, and break an axle shaft, you can unlock the hub and drive home
Personally I'd just fit the discs and leave the axle alone, and worry about uprating the CV's a long time before needing to sort the rear out.
