This is a photo journal of the front wheel bearings and AVM manual hubs that TonyN fitted for me the other day. Some things were noted that were a little unexpected, but should help someone else trying this job.
Firstly, loosen the wheel nuts, and jack the front up, jackstands, chocks, etc... remove the front wheels. Take your time, and take a photo of how it came apart, you may need them to put it back together.
This images won't load in sequence, but the filename is sequencial... Download the images and do a contact sheet listing the images in order.
Of special note:
1) Watch the cone washers when removing the hub plates, you can place a bag over the hub whilst encouraging the hub plate to move with a lump hammer. Count them out and count them back (image 8).
2) when removing the bearing seats, there are cutouts in the disc where you can place your drift. They will be tight.... don't be shy.
3) when packing the bearings with grease before fitting them, use a plastic bag. Put the grease in the bag, drop the bearing in, and squeeze the grease into the bearing.
4) images 30 through 33, note that the large washer and bolt in the end of the splined drive shaft end does not touch anything else (image 34), but with the Manual Hubs it comes real tight. We spaced this out with a couple of washers...
Hopefully, I haven't left anything out. TonyN you are more than welcome to add comments.
