  • Shrieking speedo

    Any one had this problem:
erratic noise, vibrating, buzzing mechanical speedo. Needle erratic when getting to around 40mph. Only seems to happen on really cold mornings. Changed the speedo face several weeks ago and thought the speedo cable might have got kinked, removed the clocks this morning to check but it seems ok, checked the cable and it seems ok, checked the drive at the auto- box and that seems ok. Have already removed the speed chimer alarm and its contact points that close at 65mph. Tried it out this morning but no noise, any ideas?

    hi

Mine used to do the exact same thing, the speedo cable had come adrift from the rear of the clocks. I took the clocks out, put some strong glue on the end of the cable, and then put it all back together, no prolems since.
