  • Dump Valve

I’m going to put a dump valve on my 2.4td surf and am determined not to pay the £250 the dump valve people want for there kit!
I’m happy with the theory and the pluming behind it, I need a micro switch, solenoid dump valve some wiring and piping.
What I want to know is can I use any dump valve or is there big design differences between petrol and diesel ones??

this may be a silly question

Will a dump valve work on a diesel auto???? i was under the impression that a dump valve is required on a manual car to keep the turbo spinning between gearchanges, didnt think they made any difference on an auto as you dont let off the throttle so it should keep spinning anyway.
If you do have a manual it would be interesting to see if it makes a lot of difference.
I dont think there would be any difference between dump valves for a diesel or petrol as it will do the same job whatever is burning inside the engine.I would be interested to know what the effects of this mod are so please keep us informed.
If it aint broke...........give it some more abuse!!!!!!!!
I gave it some abuse.................and it broke!!!!!!!

I think you could be right iv ordered a monza dump valve. The only difference I can think of will be the difference in pressure between a petrol and diesel. It’s a manual I have so I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

        dump valve

Hi, the dump valve will blow off at a certain pressure, if you get the wrong one for your truck you may find that the turbo blows off too soon or may overboost. Bear in mind that diesels really do need their turbos. Try these guys thay may be cheaper for a proper part and even do nationwide free delivery
