OK. Last word on this thread. I can see some of you aren't convinced of the strenght of the loving relationship between my fuel filter and its bracket. I will try all of the suggested hammer orientated methods to remove. If after that I only knacker it or puncture it and it still wont come loose I am coming after each one of you and I will take the one from your Surf and let you have mine in exchange. I'll try on Saturday morning weather permitting !

The siplest way to remove the fuel and the oil filter is to get the right sized jubilee clip, (not a chaep one)tighten it to the filter and just tap it with a hammer and a long screw driver, it will come undone straight away, honest.
If you require one of these clips I sell them for £1.95 and that includes P&P they are top quality stainless steel and made by Jubilee, you will not get one cheaper than that.
Before you put the new filter on, tighten the jubilee clip on, that way it is on the filter and not lost, and ready to be tapped and removed easily for the next oil change.
Just send me a P-mail for my address if you want one of these clips.

Not yet ! Was supposed to have a go Saturday but my windscreen wipers stopped working so I had to fix them. The motor was ok but the rod which actually turns the blades had disengaged itself from the ball joint at the back of the motor. I'm going to change it this weekend or replace the bracket.

If it keeps popping off, I had to drill though the socket and tap a thread in the ball and stick a bolt in it. but you may be all right and its just popped off.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

I'm hoping that as it happened nearly four years ago, he got the filter off. Otherwise he's got one bunged up filter by now.
But I did like his threat to come and get them all, especially Simon O, who's downunder.
For the record mine jams everytime.Gone from 4x4 to 1x2
