  • wrong wheel???

Hi all, just noticed something today, my front offside wheel is shiny like it has been refurbed... ok so its shinier than the rest, however it also doesnt stick out as far as the rest?!?!?!? The other side of the truck both wheels are flush, the offside has the front wheel in a bit further. As far as I can see the rest of the wheels looker deeper to me (including spare). I have checked and all tyres are the same 31x10.5 R15 i think.
I propose to get the spare wheel and front wheels tyres swapped so I have worst tyre on thinner wheel. Im just trying to figure out why is like this? Are spare wheels smaller or has the wrong wheel been fitted at some point.... hmmm. Do non widebody surfs have thinner wheels perhaps???

can see it well here on a pic i found! CLICKY HERE

Before I thought it looked different because it didnt have a centre cap... but now it does realised its different.

Hmm, odd. To me the front one looks like a standard alloy and the rear and spare look like aftermarket (or simply not standard). Could be that a previous owner bought a new set of 4 alloys and left the spare on the back, then someone's just put the spare on and left it, not realising it was different from the rest.
Spare wheels aren't normally smaller on the Surf. I'd just swap them like you've already suggested.

Yeah I dont mind getting them swapped but they look identical up close just deeper - strange!
Not that I mind cos all the other alloyds are wider and look pretty smart without being OTT! better also now I have the cetre caps from Claire (cheers )

They should be stamped with their offset somewhere around the inside.

My grandad brought a brand new astra years ago. He had been driving it for four years before he noticed that one of the tyres was narrower than the other three. Presumably it came from the factory like it.

If you've got a wide body Surf then it should be 8JJ.. mine are.

ok guys well both wheels were actually the same depth its just that one wasnt a deep dish like the rest. the sizes were 7JJ i think but the thin wheel had (8) on it and the others are (-20).
                Sorted now and looking good
