  • No heated Rear Screen

    Hi Guys ,
Superb Forum but this time I need to ask a question . My 1993 2.4 has a serious problem or it could soon become one . my rear heated screen does not work yet all other back door features are fine so I removed the rear door pannel and had a look inside . To my horror I found that a white and black wire has melted along the harness and chased it back to a terminal behind the near side rear trim panel . There should be a small black item here that when connected goes back to the cars main wiring however since it has melted I do not know what it was . Any ideas ? I think that it could be a Diode . My Heated Rear Screen switch does not light up at all . ( Not Surpriced ) Any real help would be appreciated .

It may be worth trying the search feature on this one. I seem to remember someone else having the same problem. I think it turned out to be that the wire got snagged and shorted to the body work????? It was a while ago.

I had a good search through but couldn't find the thread I was looking for. I don't know how helpful this is?

Thanks but I still need to know what the small black item is that has burnt away behind the Nearside side panel . The item is around 2cm x 0.5 cm in size and goes between the cables coming from the rear door and the cars main wiring . it can be found near the light cluster .
