My speedo hasn't been working for some time. The odometer also isn't ticking round. The speedo was converted and the mileage was also converted (I wouldn't have bothered! But previous owners had done it on import).
I've searched and this could range from loose something in the dash to gearbox sensor. I've done a body lift, so I'm anticipating loose something behind the dash.
Dashboard out jobs are known to be long winded. As I'm out the country still, I normally get the truck taken up to a mechanic that specialises in VW's. Although if it's anything complicated he does get the hump at times. As this is my mums daily driver (she's 50 in February) I was looking in to getting this fixed.
I'm betting the problem is the converter, or cables too tight from the body lift of something like that. Is this going to be an aggro job to remove the dash? The guy wont be experienced in hiluxes but he's the sort of bloke that has any tool for any job. I'm leaning on the side of leave it til I'm back.
Anyone have any pointers?
Cheers,
Tony
