  • Dull rear window issue.

Greetings, and apologies for yet another thread on this.
The rear window (2nd gen) is stuck up.
Has been working fine from inside, and usually ok with the key, though sometimes I need to turn it back and forth once before it would work.
I'm getting a relay click from the button in down position.
Volt meter reads 12v at the motor plug with ignition on, and drops to 0 when pressing the button. Swapping the meter round gives 0, but a few volts briefly after pressing the button.
I'm thinking it's the motor as the relays seem to be doing something.
Can anyone confirm before I rip bits off?
    Thanks folks.

Make sure the rear wiper is 'parked'.

      Seems to be, thanks.
      It gets weirder.
Put a current straight to the motor and it works.
Ok I think, let's look at the relays.
Popped the trim off, took the relay board out of the plastic box, and plugged it back in. Thought I'd try to see if anything clicked or not.
So in effect I've just unplugged it and plugged it in again, and now the key will close it, but not open it, and if I put the ignition on it closes without touching the button. If I touch down it pauses but will close if I let go.
      Hmmm....

The relay behind the rear plastic n/s panel do tend to pack up.If you can get another to try just to make sure its that one

          Thanks!
Yes, I found some posts saying about repairing the relays and thought that was the next step.
I just tried something, I took out the button. It was wet (it had a dip, but that's another story), so I tried the key, and it works fine. The button seems to have had it as I tried copious WD40 but it doesn't work.
So it seems like the problem is solved. Just need to get another button.
Strange that the key wouldn't work with the button connected but I guess it was shorting out.
          Phew!
