  • Door locks acting up

Every once in a while my door locks start going off by themselves like they are trying to constantly unlock themselves. When I try to lock it with my alarm remote the doors unlock again. I found the door lock module under the dash was clicking so I unplugged it. Swapped it with one from my parts truck and it still does the same thing. Any ideas what I should check?

check wire door loom, normally it breaks by the flexy bit between the door and the A pillar

What Budweiser said. Almost certainly a dodgy wire making and breaking.

Went through the front doors, no broken or damaged wires. Tearing apart everything under the dash currently but with my alarm and all of it's wiring, it makes for a big job.

Question I had, the problem is intermittent but I found if I turn the headlights on with the key out of the ignition it acts up constantly every time. Any idea how these 2 things could be linked?

EDIT: I've got everything for the driver's door unplugged. I can lock the truck with my alarm fob, it locks fine and says the drivers door is open, which it is. So this seems normal. If I turn the headlights on the doors start unlocking repeatedly. I removed the module for my alarm and tried this again, doors still keep unlocking. So I've ruled it out to be my truck, not an alarm problem. But where is it that the headlights could affect the doors? If I unplug either the module behind the dash or under my seat there is no issue with them unlocking but obviously the locks don't work when I do this, I was just trying to see if something else could be sending power or ground to them. I've unhooked my flood lights I wired in and there was no change, I just wanted to rule out any possibility of the lights I wired in causing an issue.

Edit #2 Has anyone heard of a poor battery causing this? I've read before of someone changing their batteries and it solving a central locking problem. I find this problem occurs when I put load on the system (headlights on) or when the truck sits for a while. Doesn't usually happen after I drive it but I'll come back a day later and the locks will be going crazy. Last I tested them one of my batteries was pretty weak

Have you checked the door switches? If ones not working the central locking will think a door is open and pop the locks open again,
Also if putting a load on the system (headlights) makes it play up it would be worth checking all your earth's as something may be trying to draw power through the locking system earth instead of its own.

I hate it when someone doesn't post the fix so, I unhooked the central locking module under the seat and my problem went away. Guess the module was shorted out. The central locking still works when I put the key in the door and turn. I guess the buttons on the key wouldn't work but they're broken anyway.
