  • How to remove the Horn Relay

Hi there. I need to remove the horn relay to check the contacts as the horn's not working. Thing is, I've done this before many years ago, but for the life of me I can't remember how it's done!! Does anyone know whether it's just the top part of the grey relay which comes off or the whole thing and how do you remove it? I've managed to skin my knuckles already, think I was a lot slimmer, fitter and suppler last time I did this!

    Which one is it?

If it's one in this pic, I had to pull like a son of a b**ch.

Hi there, no, it's a relay in the drivers footwell. I'm going to have another go at it tonight!

Yeah! Relay number 5, on the left withterminals like a face. Do you have the relay?

So it looks like it comes away at a different point from what I was expecting, if that makes sense.

Very helpful much appreciated. If you have the relay and are able to say how it comes out I.e. if there's a tab to push/pull which I can't see, or if it just needs yanking out, that would be great.

Here we go...looks in the first pic like the tag has to be pushed away from the relay body.

Right, sorted the relay. The top part comes off and you can clean up the contacts and bend the arm a little so that it makes good contact when moved by the electromagnet. So, sorted and I don't have to take the grille off now to access the horns, many thanks anyway for all your help Andy, you've saved me loads of time. Are you selling bits then, breaking a surf? I might be interested in a horn relay as a spare as this one'll pack up sometime...

glad to be of some help chap.

yes, everything for sale....bodyshell off to the scrappy as soon as he turns up with more than a transit van...garage full of bits.. then I'll start on the running gear.

Moving soon so I do need to get a wiggle on! I think most of it will come with me, would be nice to have got shot of the wheels, chassis and block before I pack the house though.

Are you selling through here? How much for the horn relay?

Where are you moving to? I'm on the south coast.
