  • Alternator recommendations?

Well first a Battery now the alternator.
Looks like the cheapest option is Milners at about £120 delivered.
Is there a better deal to be had?

Yep I've got the usual lights on the dash.
The fuses are ok and I've squirted it with WD40 and beat it with a stick

You could see if a local parts company can get one for a 4runner cheaper

I will have to go out into the cold and get it off.
At least its all work from above so I don't have to lay in the snow

          Cheers

thats very true and at least it shouldn't take to long to take off.If i was you i wouldn't take the long bolt out that you slacken off to adjust the belts but take the 3 or 4 bolts that fix that bracket to the block. The alternators that i used to take off the breakers were a pain to get the alternator back into the bracket again

Got the old one off last night.
Easy job using instructions off here.
I phoned round a few places to see if I could get the old one repaired.
                  One quote unseen @ £40-£60+vat
                  Another over £225
Weighed up the pro's and con's and ordered a new one from Milners £123.50 delivered
Hopefully it will come tomorrow so I can fit it tomorrow night.
Hoping it goes on just as easy as the old one came off

                    Job done
All went well apart from pushing back the washer in the adjuster bracket.
I couldn't get it to move and I thought if I kept hitting it
I may break the arm off.
I ended up using a bit of heat to help things along.

I wouldn't recommend doing the job in the dark as I did as you can misplace things.

The best thing though no lights on the dash

Next job replace the clamp bracket on the exhaust flexi pipe
