  • 3.0TD M/T vs Auto ECU

After splending ages tinkering with my 1kzte conversion, I've found that my ECU has a fried component inside. I'm searching for a replacement, but having a hard time finding the exact ECU that I'm looking for. My question is this:

Since I have a 5 speed trans that needs no input from the ECU to function, could I source an auto ECU and just wire it to function as if it were constantly in neutral? I used to do this with Hondas no sweat, but I'm curious if the Auto ECU requires any input from the transmission or those seperate tansmission control modules?

Obviously my best option would be to just hold out for the exact ECU, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch, but also dreadfully impatient. Thanks!

I know it's possible with Lexus ECUs if a manual gearbox is replacing the auto, so I guess all Toyota ECUs of the same era are similar?
Just apply ignition 12v to the NSW pin (Neutral start switch) and cranking voltage to the STA pin and the engine will start.
