  • Broken Horn

A while back a changed out the steering rack and stupidly spun the steering wheel a couple of times with the column disconnected and rack removed.
When I reassembled everything, the horn wasn't working and the airbag warning light was on.
What exactly have I knackered and is it an easy fix?

    Many thanks

    Ben

Hi Ben it sounds like you may have damaged the clock spring behind the steering wheel . If you turned thr steering wheel further in one direction than it would normally turn when connected to the rack this would cause damage to the clock spring. its not a part you can repair really just replace it . Make sure you disconnect the batteries before you start messing around with the steering the contacts for thr air bag will run through the clock spring to and a wrongly poked screwdriver is enough to set it off
Always up to my neck in it

Cheers, all the investigation I have done does point to the clock spring.

How easy is this to replace?

        Cheers

It was the clock spring, just fitted one supplied by Tony N and all is working fine.

Easy job and took about an hour from start to finish.

          Cheers
