Ahh... I have had this problem too!!!! for the past ten months.

Sometimes the rear speakers worked with a CD and sometimes not... very frustrating.

I also noticed the rear speakers only came to life when the aerial was up but have never found out how to keep the aerial up when inserting a CD.

Having read this thread and now see there are amps in the back the problem is probably to do with the electric aerial and the amp positive feed, as the aerial goes down when switching to CD the power is being cut off to the built in amp for the rear speakers.

So how do you get around that??????

you sure the rear speakers have an amp each? bit unusual to have 2 single channel amps and not 1 2 way... i'd imagine them more likely to be crossovers? to split the high and low frequency signals....

the aerial will stay up with TA on as the radio is "scanning" for the signal to signify a traffic report.
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

that's just the japs being wierd again!...
i always thought that's why the speakers were 2 ohm... because they were components running through crossovers. could be active crossovers?

of course mine is completely different so i can't say cos i've nener seen the 2nd gen ones... so i'll just keep quiet! hehehe!!
